Admission to the University of the Heart

It has been our aspiration for many years to pull together the teachings of the heart into a format that can be studied with the seriousness and focus that is common among university and graduate students. At last this dream is coming to fruition: IAM-U begins Labor Day Weekend, Sept 3-5, 2010, in Tucson, AZ, and continues in 4 key cities: Tucson, AZ; Ventura, CA; Denver, CO; and Boston, MA. (As IAM-U grows, we will add cities in other locations.) The students admitted this year will be part of IAM-U's first class, the class of 2012.

For participants in one of the degree programs, we are looking for people who want to reach beyond the mental confines of a narrow speciality, to experience and master the fundamental, unified reality behind science and philosophy, business and service, psychology and physiology, and ancient wisdom and high-technology.

Our aim is to provide you with all that you need to reach illumination, the completion of spiritual development on the path of the heart. You won't reach this goal in two years, nor will you emerge having mastered the skills we have to teach; but you will have everything you need to take you to your goal.

We are blessed to take part in the broadening of the idea of what a university can be, work that is being undertaken by many schools at this time. Yet we offer something special. IAM-U's curriculum is like no other holistic university that exists, for we include:

  • two years of individual mentoring sessions by a trained IAM Mentor;
  • a 7-day individual retreat led by an IAM Retreat Guide;
  • two 5-day group retreats led by Puran, Susanna and other senior IAM Teachers;
  • two years of monthly sessions where you learn meditation and practice your skills under the guidance of one of IAM's Certified Teachers; and
  • The entire introductory-level IAM Curriculum, which includes Heart Rhythm Meditation, The 4 Elements, The 4 Dimensions of the Heart, The 7 Energy Centers, The 12 Archetypes, The 9 Steps of Realization, The 3 Egos, and the Culture of the Heart.

There is nowhere else that you can find both a profound philosophical framework and the hands-on guidance, training, and support that will give you the skills, knowledge and understanding you need to make a great leap forward in your inner growth.

The cost of all this entire 2 year program is just $12,250 -- well below what other universities charge, and a savings of over $2500 off the retail price of the package listed above. We also pledge to set aside 5% of our slots for scholarships to students who require financial assistance, and we will offer a work-study program as well.

If you're ready for the University of the Heart, call us for an application.

Where your heart leads, your mind will follow as a talented and trusted friend.

As a unique creation of the universe, you have a unique purpose to fulfill. How will you discover the mission for which you were designed and given life? How will you prepare yourself; how will you develop the insight and power you will need to accomplish what you were given to accomplish?

The answer is in your heart where the memory of the purpose of your life remains, though covered. At the University of the Heart you will develop the skills of accessing your heart's guidance and courage, creativity and compassion, holistic vision and unfailing confidence. These are all qualities of your heart, the seat of your Self.

The faculty of the University of the Heart is not only extremely knowledgeable about the physical, emotional and spiritual heart, but they are personally adept in the practice of Heart Rhythm Meditation.

The curriculum you will study and master is a comprehensive, consistent and proven set of teachings of a great 20th century musician and mystic, Hazrat Inayat Khan, along with the classic teachings of Rumi, Shakespeare, Walt Whitman, St. Francis and others. These teachings touch every aspect of a modern spiritual life to give one the ability to live from the heart. The Institute for Applied Meditation has focused this monumental work on five, practical career paths that will help you fulfill the purpose of your life.
